Message from the Board President       Learn About Core Element

Hello ,

Core Element: Greater New Orleans STEM Initiative continues to bring successful Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs to the teachers and students of the Greater New Orleans region. While most classrooms across the country still use traditional textbooks as the primary source of education, our program trains teachers and equips teachers with kits to engage students through hands-on and minds-on activities.

In August, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Young Professionals hosted the first annual Masquerade Gala and Silent Auction.  The gala was great fun and a spectacular success! Over 200 people attended and all of the proceeds benefited Core Element.

I would like to offer my sincere appreciation for all of the support, hard work and commitment of Society of Petroleum Engineers-Delta Chapter Young Professionals Program  and to all of our sponsors.

There are many emerging fields in this area, such as digital media, and more established fields, such as manufacturing and construction, that need applicants that are science- and math-savvy. We are beyond the days of reading a textbook. This program is about preparing our young people so we can leap-frog ahead.
