Young Scientist Challenge

3M Young Scientist Challenge is now accepting entries for the 2012
competition. Open to students in grades 5-8, the
Young Scientist Challenge provides the
opportunity for one lucky student to win: $25,000, a once-in-a-lifetime
trip with Discovery Student Adventures, and the distinguished title,
"America's Top Young Scientist."
Ten finalists will have the opportunity to work directly with a 3M
scientist during an exclusive summer mentorship and bring their
innovative ideas to life. The deadline to enter online is April 19,
2012.
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are the Nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. The Awards recognize outstanding K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. Since 1983, more than 4,000 teachers have been recognized for their contributions to mathematics and science education. If you know great teachers, nominate them to join this prestigious network of professionals. Anyone—principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public—are invited to nominate exceptional Math or Science teachers teaching. Self-nominations are encouraged. Digital Wish is now offering a program that matches teachers with donors. To find a donor, teachers must build a wish list of Digital Wish classroom technology products. Teachers may then tell their stories and share their lesson plan ideas. Prospective donors can review a classroom profile and donate funding or purchase a wish list item for a school. After each technology purchase, Digital Wish will automatically donate an additional 2-10% in immediate cash-back funding to the recipient school to fund their next technology project. Dollar General School Library Relief Fund Dollar General and partners sponsor a school library disaster relief fund for public setting. Applications are reviewed monthly.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is currently seeking applications for the ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Grant. The ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Grant is awarded to high school chemistry teachers for any purpose that enhances the teaching and learning of chemistry within their classrooms. Teachers can request up to $1,500 for proposals that cover basic needs as well as support new, innovative activities. Applications are due on April 1st. www.acs.org/hach.
Toshiba's Grade 7-12 Grant Program The Toshiba America Foundation encourages programs with the potential to improve classroom teaching and learning of science, mathematics, and the science and mathematics of technology. Projects and proposals from individual or groups of classroom teachers in grade schools (7-12) will be considered for funding. Delta Education/Frey-Neo/CPO Science Education Awards for Excellence in Inquiry-based Science Teaching The Delta Education/Frey-Neo/CPO Science Awards for Excellence in Inquiry-based Science Teaching will recognize and honor three (3) full-time PreK–12 teachers of science who successfully use inquiry-based science to enhance teaching and learning in their classroom. Shell Science Teaching Award This award recognizes one outstanding classroom science teacher (K–12) who has had a positive impact on his or her students, school, and community through exemplary classroom science teaching. Eligibility: K–12 classroom science teachers Award: $10,000 and an all-expense paid trip to attend NSTA’s National Conference; two finalists will also receive all-expense-paid trips to the conference. Earthwatch: Educator Fellowship The Earthwatch Institute offers educators fully funded fellowships for hands-on learning with leading scientists doing field research and conservation on one of 130 projects around the world.
